[gephex-user] Webcam input is all black

I've got a logitech qc messenger and it works fine in gephex with the
qc-usb-messenger-1.1 kernel module, but I recently bought a couple of Labtec
webcam pros (046d 08a2) and got them working in xawtv and effectv with the
spca5xx-20060402 driver- but in gephex the webcam window just comes up all
black.

I've tried both of the identical Labtec cameras on two different computers
with the same result.  I'm running kernel 2.6.9.

Can anyone suggest further steps to take to debug this?  Does the spca5xx
just not work with gephex?
